Temecula Valley Rose Society Board Meeting Minutes

Present: Bonnie Bell, Phyllis Bettelheim, Frank Brines, Jeanne Brubaker, Betty Dixon, Barb Purdy, Ann Schryer, Rebecca Wearing, Kathy Turgeon,

Absent:  Linda Black, Ann Coakes, Denise Vaccaro

 

Meeting called to order at 10:07 AM by Co-President Phyllis Bettelheim

Minutes of August, 2015 meeting approved as corrected

Treasurer's Report (detailed report attached to secretary's copy of minutes)

Motions passed

Motion to ratify checks plus auto-pay for August - #22394-2396, plus auto pay Edison and Dream Host  total  $252.43

 

Reports

 

The 2016 Rose Show date is, Friday & Saturday, April 22 & 23 and will be held at the Assistance League.

 

Ann gave a report on the membership meeting held in August. She will be initiating a “Volunteer of the Year” Award based on member hours. 
And possibly getting the pictures of members next to their address. She is also looking into giving more incentives for new members.

 

Barb gave a report on Youth Gardening.  Alicia Cline is now the director of “Families in the Garden.” The program for September 19th will feature
a program on Bats, which has been a very popular program. The Tree of Life Garden will be getting underway this fall. Planting will be the primary focus
this year and in the early spring.

 

Phyllis gave a report on Rose Haven. She mentioned that we do not have enough volunteers to come out and maintain the garden each week.
She mentioned that Nardo would be available to work 4 hours a week.

 

Rebecca asked the directors present if they will be on the new board and all present will continue on.  The next meeting for the Nominating Committee
will be September 25th.

 

Rebecca reported that Los Ranchitos Board of Directors will be donating some monies to the garden this year.  She is also in the process of
discussing our security issues with a security person who can give us some pointers on taking care of our garden security.

 

MOTION

A motion was passed to have Nardo come to Rose Haven Heritage Garden four hours a week for care and maintenance of the garden at $30.00 an hour.

NEW BUSINESS

 

Betty Dixon will give her “favorite rose” presentation at the June General Meeting.

Frank mentioned that he would like the minutes of the finance committee meeting before our board meeting.
