14th Annual Rose & Arts Festival

Division IV : Artistic Settings Rules

1. Artistic Settings may be the work of an individual or a team, not to exceed 3 members.

2. Roses must be the dominant flower.

3. Roses may be either garden or market grown, as preferred by arranger.

4. All roses must be high quality.

5. Accessories, flowers other than roses, and dried and/or treated plant material are allowed.

6. Silverware, including chopsticks, is not allowed.

7. Artistic Settings exhibits, excluding live flowers, are to be set up on Friday, May 2, between 2 and 5 p.m.

8. No one but the exhibitor(s) may touch or move an Artistic Settings exhibit. However, in extreme circumstances, if all efforts to locate the Artistic Settings exhibitor have failed, the Artistic Settings chairman may carefully move an arrangement.

9. The TVRS will not be responsible for exhibits. Care for the arrangements will be provided to the best of the society’s ability. It cannot, however, assume any responsibility for any loss or damage to property.

10. Reservations are required for all Artistic Settings. Reservations will close on Thursday, May 1. Email reservation to temecularosefestival@live.com or contact Lenore Vogel at (951) 698-6765

11. Artistic Settings must be in place and ready for judging by 9:45 a.m. on Saturday.

12. Care should be exercised when preparing arrangements in the show area. No water or trash should remain in your area.

13. Artistic Settings must be left in place until 4 p.m. on May 4.

14. Artistic Settings left in place after 4:30 p.m. on May 4 will become the property of TVRS and displayed as part of our Flowers for Friends Community Outreach.

Class 1 - Sacred Fire, Izu Oshima, a Japanese island, volcano Mt. Mihara (the pulse of the earth)

Class 2 - Golden Horn Bay, Vladivostok, Russia

Class 3 - Sanguo yanyi or Romance of the Three Kingdoms (14th century Chinese historical novel)

Class 4 - Great Barrier Reef, Australia

Class 5 - The Meeting of the Americas, Panama

Section B. Setting for One (22” x 16” tray table)

Class 6 - Te Pito ‘o te kainga, Easter Island (the center of the earth)

Class 7 - Te Waka a Pounamu, Maori name for South Island, New Zealand (the waters of jade)

Class 8 - Pak Belang, Malayan Tiger (called Striped Sir)

Class 9 - Coconuts, Bananas and Kava, Micronesia, staple crops

Class 10 - Lax Kw’alaams, British Columbia, Canada (place of the wild roses)

Section C. Coffee Table Vignette (18” x 13” tray, to be provided by exhibitor)
