14th Annual Rose & Arts Festival

Division III : Blooming Art Rules

1. All work must be an interpretation of the Festival theme Pacific Serenade. Abstract interpretation is permissible.

2. Art entries will be accepted from current members in good standing of the Temecula Valley Art League and the Gem of the Valley Art League.

3. All work must be suitable for general viewing.

4. One piece of art per artist may be submitted. No entry fee.

5. The art piece MUST BE VERTICAL and on an 18" X 24" canvas (or similar support, paper, panel, etc). If a gallery wrap-type canvas is used (with no staples showing on sides), a frame is not needed. All other artwork pieces need to be framed (simple and no wider than 2 to 3" on any side). For safety & insurance reasons, only plexiglass may be used, no glass is allowed.

6. Media accepted: Oil and acrylic; water media (under Plexiglas); mixed media; and pencil, colored pencil, ink, charcoal, pastel.

7. All work must have been completed after June 1, 2007. No work previously exhibited at the Rose and Arts Festival will be eligible.

8. The artist should provide a title for the piece, which will be used for floral interpretation.

9. Completed art piece must be dry, framed securely, have screw eyes and wire attached, and be ready to hang. No saw tooth hangers.

10. Completed art piece is to be brought to the Temecula Community Recreation Center on Thursday, March 6, 2008, at 1 p.m. Piece will be returned at 3 p.m. of the same day, at the same location.

11. Selection of the Festival Signature Piece will be done by the Rose & Arts Festival Committee based on theme interpretation and visual impact.

12. One piece will be selected as the Signature Piece for Event and be interpreted by a local florist. Other art pieces will be selected for interpretation by TVRS members and local florists.

13. On March 6, please provide a 4” x 6” photograph for use by the person creating the floral interpretation.

14. On March 6, please provide a CD of a digital photo for use by TVRS in all publicity, promotion activities, and TVRS website.

15. Important dates for the 2008 Rose and Arts Festival:

●      Thursday, March 6, 2008 - Bring art piece to CRC for selection purposes at 1 p.m. Pick up 3 p.m.

●      Friday, May 2, 2008 - Bring art piece to CRC between 2:30 and 4 p.m. for weekend display.

●      Saturday, May 3, 2008 - Judging of Blooming Art between 9 and 11:30 a.m. Event open to public noon to 4 p.m.

●      Sunday, May 4, 2008 - Event open to public noon to 4 p.m. Awards presentations 3:30 p.m. Remove art piece by 4:30 p.m.

16. Special recognition awards will be given for the Festival Signature Piece, Award of Excellence, and Award of Merit.

17. All reproduction rights go to TVRS from March 6 through May 31, 2008.

18. The TVRS, its Officers, Directors, agents or representatives, assume no responsibility for damages, theft or loss to entries in this show.

19. Business cards with artist name and contact information may be placed on the table provided by TVRS, if the piece is for sale. Please indicate ‘NFS’ if not for sale.

20. All floral interpretations will be judged in accordance with Division II Arrangements except that market roses are acceptable. Appropriate and limited accessories are allowed.

21. Type of design and Artist’s Title to be included on entry tag. If desired, country being portrayed may be noted on entry tag.

22. Reservations are required for Blooming Art floral interpretation and must be received by Thursday, May 1. Email reservation request to temecularosefestival@live.com or, for those without email access, phone Lenore Vogel at (951) 698-6765.
